THE CROOKED FIDDLE BAND (NSW) the ARIA nominated ‘chainsaw folk’ band will be celebrating their 20th this year, and including HOBOFOPO on their calendar. No strangers to Tasmania, nor to most festival stages around the country, these four virtuosos mix blasts of fiery folk with intense and atmospheric post- and prog-rock.
MYLES BULLEN (USA) is a ukulele-playing rapper and spoken-word poet from Portland, Maine. Myles has toured nearly every state in the US as well as many European countries performing packed shows at music venues, colleges, recovery centers, prisons, festivals, and libraries. He sings songs about grief, mental health, navigating identity, relationships, and cartoon lore.
GUSTO GUSTO (VIC) are West Preston’s finest 7-piece high energy funk-folk instrumental outfit. Finalists for the Australian Folk Music Awards’ Artist of the Year for the past three years, they’ve been busy touring nationally and internationally. So much so that you’ve probably seen them, especially if you were dancing to something raucous late at a folk festival – it was probably them.
BILLY PUNTTON AND THE MENTAL HEALTH PLAN (NSW) is Dexi Powered folk-punk-rock with big angry sad songs exclusively about mental health that you will like. Sometimes we call it ‘Trash Emo’.
JODIE FLANGE (QLD) Front woman of Flangipanis, the band has recently hung up its hat but Jodie lingers on. Fuelled by apathy and usually also alcohol, the songs vary in theme but retain that familiar underlying fury. Jodie has been to HOBOFOPOs in the past and has not yet been exiled, which is a remarkable feature given the sharp tongue and dark humour.
